Refugee or Migrant?

There has been a lot in the news lately about 'migrants' and 'refugees'.

This is really the only story you need to read and the only images you need to see. I will let you do that first and let it sink in.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/if-these-extraordinarily-powerful-images-of-a-dead-syrian-child-washed-up-on-a-beach-dont-change-europes-attitude-to-refugees-what-will-10482757.html

I don't have the words to describe this. I just don't. I can't even start, I wouldn't know where.

There is a huge misconception about what a 'migrant' a 'refugee' and an 'asylum seeker' is so all I can do here is give you the definitions of each. Read and take note. It really isn't what the right wing press would have you believe.

'Migrant' - A person who moves from one place to another in order to find work or better living conditions.

'Refugee' - A person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, natural disaster or persecution.

'Asylum seeker' - A person who has left their home country as a political refugee and is seeking asylum in another.

This helps too: http://i100.independent.co.uk/article/who-are-migrants-and-who-are-refugees--b1rYIuESHe

As you can tell from the definitions, you would have to be pretty desperate to consider leaving your own country, especially considering how dangerous it is. In the last week there have been 70+ migrants found dead in a lorry in Austria and the story above...well, you will have read it by now and as I say, there are no words.

There are ways to help though. There are loads of charities you can donate to and there are loads of petitions you can sign. The easiest way is to go to this Independent link and they have all the links that you will need for this:
