Where is May?

Before I start, read this Huffington Post article. Theresa May is running scared Where is our PM? Have you seen her? Have you seen her without an invitation to see her? That is the real question.  No TV debates May has said she will not be participating in TV debates because she thinks the public want to meet with her and not see the debates. She will be interviewed on the tele though so there is that. The BBC and ITV have already said that they will hold leader debates and the threat is there to 'empty chair' her if she doesn't turn up. Unfortunately Corbyn's team have been hinting that he won't do a debate without May but I think that would be a mistake. I think he should definitely appear and make her seem the scared little wotsit she really is (wanted to say something stronger but I didn't because I am a nice girl). Who is she really meeting? That is the question. If May is so desperate to 'meet the people' on this campaign the...

Why we needed Andy Murray to win

While the post-Brexit blues still hang over us we needed something to raise the collective spirit of the nation and on Sunday 10 July 2016 that came in the form of Andy Murray winning his second Wimbledon singles title. As previously written about we who voted remain have been feeling something that can only be described as grief. Studies have been done to back this up. Apparently we are suffering sleepless nights, intense feelings of sadness and emptiness and going through the stages of grief like denial and anger. The other things since then include the dropping of the pound to a 31 year low and the rise in hate crime (racism basically). This is all off the back of Brexit. It isn't just Brexit that has made the nation feel this way. Basically June and early July was a rubbish time for us all. England were knocked out of the last 16 of the Euros by Iceland who are made up of professional and amateur players and who's coach is a dentist. Then there have been the large n...

Why I lost it with the British music press

Image
I used to have a subscription to the largest British weekly music magazine dealing with rock and metal. I stopped that subscription and I had some very good reasons for doing so. The main reason was that I had just moved house and I couldn't justify the subscription fee every few months. I just figured that it might be better to buy it on a weekly basis if there were any articles I liked. For example, a wonderful human I know was in the magazine a couple of weeks ago because his new band were in a feature on the 'New Grave' scene. Regular readers will know that I have been supporting Solace in Nightmares for about a year now and it was this band being featured. As I lead their street team I kind of figured that I should buy the mag just for that article. The other reason is basically around the content. I had already decided to cancel my subscription but I was fed up that my favourite bands were not getting the coverage. Just as I cancel they all start getting featured...

Independence in Scotland - what it means to me

I am a woman living in the South of England so how does the Independence vote in Scotland affect me? Well apart from being a life long Labour Party supporter and having worries that a 'Yes' vote will mean that Labour will never come to power again (in which case I am moving to Scotland...you have been warned) I have been thinking more on this issue. I could spout off like everyone else does about politics and economics, but I think I have done that to death now. I would like to talk about what Scotland means to me. To me, Scotland is a beautiful country that I have visited a couple of times and would like to visit more. I have a lot of friends in Scotland that I have made over the internet and then met in real life too. They are wonderful, bright, talented people who I am better for knowing. I don't want there to be a divide between us, I want to feel closer to them. I want to be able to freely travel into Scotland without any restrictions such as using a passport at ...
