Where is May?

Before I start, read this Huffington Post article. Theresa May is running scared Where is our PM? Have you seen her? Have you seen her without an invitation to see her? That is the real question.  No TV debates May has said she will not be participating in TV debates because she thinks the public want to meet with her and not see the debates. She will be interviewed on the tele though so there is that. The BBC and ITV have already said that they will hold leader debates and the threat is there to 'empty chair' her if she doesn't turn up. Unfortunately Corbyn's team have been hinting that he won't do a debate without May but I think that would be a mistake. I think he should definitely appear and make her seem the scared little wotsit she really is (wanted to say something stronger but I didn't because I am a nice girl). Who is she really meeting? That is the question. If May is so desperate to 'meet the people' on this campaign the...

In mourning

I am in mourning for my future, my unborn children's future and those friends of mine who were just slightly too young to vote this time. Last night it was announced that Britain had voted to leave the EU and all based on a pack of lies. Even this morning Nigel Farage of UKIP has been on national television and admitted that the Leave claim of £350 million a week into the EU which could go to the NHS was a lie. He actually sat there and said that. Already we have seen the pound plummet to a 31 year low. The last time the pound was this low was 1985. I was born in 1986. I have literally never known it to be this bad in my entire life. I am 30 in November. Cameron has already said he is standing down in October. As if the country were not fucked enough this morning he is adding more uncertainty into the mix, but really he has nowhere else to go. He should never have called this referendum in the first place. Then for him to stand on TV and cry is just as big an insult to the co...

Biggest decision for a generation

Today we get to make the biggest decision for a generation. I have heard a lot from both sides but I knew before this all began that I would be voting remain. For me it is simple. I want to ensure that my future is secure. Actually I want to ensure that when I have children their future is secure. Also, through the music scene I am involved with I get to meet people of all ages and there are people slightly too young to vote who will be affected by this and they are good people so I am voting remain for them. I want to see a country that has a strong economic future with trade links to some amazing countries is Europe. I want free travel, the right to work where I want, the human rights I have lived my life with, the equality/diversity, the environmental stuff and all the other wonders that come with being part of the EU. I have been through it all before though so I will not go into detail about the stuff that will affect the whole country. Instead I will reflect on my personal ...

EUROVISION!

Image
It is my favourite time of the year! I prefer this time of year to even Christmas. The sun is shining, tennis season is just on the horizon (by that I mean the French Open and Wimbledon are coming up) and to kick start the party is the biggest party in the world - Eurovision! I honestly get sick with excitement every year over Eurovision. I love how camp, kitch, fashionable, accepting, and brilliant the whole thing is. The costumes, make-up, hair, voices, dancers and musicians are all wonderful. It is great to see Europe (and the world) united in this celebration of that great thing that brings us all together...Eurovision. To anyone who has never watched or would like to watch it for the first time you need some background to understand just how important this competition is. I will also explain some of the rules and some of the scoring. Basically, 26 countries in Europe (although I will explain this isn't quite the case in a moment) qualify to take part in the final which i...

Staying 'IN'

In a few months time Britain will have a choice. Do we stay in the European Union (EU) or leave it? I am firmly in the yes campaign and believe that we are generally better off staying in the EU and that is where my vote will be going. I am happy to wear that out and proud. I would personally like even more involvement in the EU and would actually like to go and join the euro and stuff like that (imagine not having to go to a bureau de change to get your holiday money for somewhere like Spain). That is not going to happen any time soon though so what reasons do I believe we have for staying in. I have done the research and found some prime examples. These are by no means exhaustive but these are some damn good reasons for staying in. 1. For every £1 we put in to the EU we get £10 back. That comes back in trade, commerce and things such as tourism and students coming to study. That has to be considered worth it. Where else in the world can you get a good deal like that? 2. 400,000...

Daily comment: Europe

Today Parliament has a vote on whether or not there should be a referendum about staying in Europe.  This is set to be 'CallMeDave's' biggest challenge yet.  Many of his party want to vote for a referendum, but with Labour and the Lib Dems to vote against it 'CallMeDave' will be happy.  Why is this the case?  Because say what you like about the Tories, the front bench knows that we do need to be a part of Europe.  We need to stand alongside the other European countries and be proud of this.  We are still one of the stronger nations in the EU, even if it doesn't feel like it at times and we need them too.  We need the economic support of something much bigger.  We need the agreements on human rights, education and health.  We need to be a part of this to show that we are front runners in a Europe that can work.  Also we know that as a tiny island nation we run the risk of being cut off without the protection of the Union.  'CallMeD...
