How Sez Sees It

This week WWE are doing something that I don't entirely agree with. They are going to Saudi Arabia to put on what is being titled the 'Greatest Royal Rumble'. I would argue that this event is not so great for a number of reasons, but especially because of the treatment of women. Shock horror! I am a woman! I also really like professional wrestling and have followed it on and off ever since I was a kid. Right now I am REALLY into it and watch it religiously every week. I have a subscription to the WWE Network so I can watch all the original programming and every pay per view. I have a long list of favourite wrestlers but the ones I loved watching as a kid were The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H and Chyna. Now my favourites are Seth Rollins, Nia Jax, Ember Moon, Cedric Alexander and Johnny Gargano. Welcome to another blog post straight from my mind. I know these are now few and far between but I feel like blogging when passionate about something is important. This one is about my renewed love of wrestling and in particular that of the WWE. I have had people tell me recently that at 31 years of age it is immature to like wrestling of any kind and that it is 'fake'. I am here to tell you why all of that is bulls**t. Where it all began Back in the 1990's we had a really crap TV reception. So bad that when all this country had was analogue TV (yes I know satellite and cable existed but we couldn't afford that when I was a kid) and only five channels existed my family could get four of those...on a good day. BBC 2 was pretty clear and ITV, BBC 1 and Channel 4 all had snow effect on them. While the post-Brexit blues still hang over us we needed something to raise the collective spirit of the nation and on Sunday 10 July 2016 that came in the form of Andy Murray winning his second Wimbledon singles title. As previously written about we who voted remain have been feeling something that can only be described as grief. Studies have been done to back this up. Apparently we are suffering sleepless nights, intense feelings of sadness and emptiness and going through the stages of grief like denial and anger. The other things since then include the dropping of the pound to a 31 year low and the rise in hate crime (racism basically). This is all off the back of Brexit. Just a round up of things that we should all be aware of. Although if you haven't heard this stuff then you have been living under a rock. 1. Brexit is still rubbish Since the vote two weeks ago the pound is still at a 31 year low. There are now worries that the pound will reach parity with the US dollar if leaders and banks do not act fast. On top of that the people who were in charge of bringing about this economic mess have all jumped ship. Boris Johnson has decided he doesn't want to be leader of the Tories (and by extension PM). This could have something to do with the fact that he never really wanted Brexit in the first place. What Bo Jo really wanted was the PM's job with a slight majority remain so he could say he tried to bring us out of Europe but the people wanted to stay and no one likes Cameron anymore so he had to be PM but it is ok really because he can see benefits in remaining. It has been a couple of days so I have had a chance to digest this and think about why England have been booted (literally) out of another football tournament. On Monday night (27 June) the nation sat down in front of their TVs expecting England to go through to the Quarter Finals of Euro 2016 in France. After the final group game it looked like England would have to play Portugal and the nation was concerned about this. Although Portugal had been sub-par at times they were still a force to be reckoned with. Then, at the last moment, Iceland scored a goal and went through in a position to play England instead. This seemed like a gift from the football gods as the side is made up of part-time players and the assistant coach is a full-time dentist! Within a few minutes England were awarded a penalty and it was put expertly in the back of the net by Wayne Rooney. I actually really enjoy watching sport. This is something that often surprises people but I am quite fond of sticking the TV on and watching some sport or other and like to go and see live sport when I can too. I am not a sporty person myself but I think I am just impressed that there are humans out there than can perform these amazing feats of strength and stamina. This week I have been especially impressed with Leicester City winning the Premier League. This football club were at the bottom of the table and just scraped out of the relegation zone last season. This season has seen them consistently draw and win against huge teams like Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal. It was an interesting season as Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) were able to get to second and were serious contenders to take the top spot from Leicester. This was also unexpected as it is usually teams like Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd or Liverpool that you expect to see at the top. The team spirit at Leicester is amaz...

I am going to try and comment on at least one thing a day. So Liam Fox (hereby known as Foxy) has answered his question in the Commons.  I have to admit that he did seem to sincerely apologise for the parts he knew to be wrong behaviour, but in true Tory style he covered up for BBF Adam Werritty and turned some things around by saying he was 'not dependent on any transactional behaviour' for his imcome.  Then what does the man live on?  Thin air?  The whole thing stinks, but I fear Foxy will get away with this one as there is a lot of other stuff going on that the press are interested in...mostly how ugly the X-Factor contestants are...that should keep David 'CallmeDave' Cameron happy.
