The world is terrible

How to make the world a better place Right now the world seems terrible. There are so many bad things going on in the world that it is easy to lose track of the good in people. After all, you have the President of the United States who thinks that comparing the size of his button (nuclear) with the one belonging to the dictator of North Korea is a great idea. The POTUS believes he is the smartest human to ever human and that all the news outlets are just 'fake news' and out to get him. Then you have the UK PM who is totally ineffectual and is presiding over the car crash that is Brexit and the destruction of our greatest ever national accomplishment, the NHS. On top of that you have a YouTuber who thinks that going to a sacred forest ( Aokigahara - Japan), where people go to tragically end their lives, and dancing around like a tit when he finds a victim of suicide is a top idea for views. There is a glimmer of hope There is so much other crap going on right now as wel...

Best laid plans

Whatever I try and write about or vlog about I always seem to end up taking extra long breaks. This is mostly to do with getting distracted on a regular basis. I have been meaning to do the second part of my Lord of the Rings vlog for weeks now and I have not got round to it because of a combination of wedding planning and watching the Olympics. This is unfortunate of course. I also seem to have ideas of vlogs when I am away from a place where I can jot down a note of them as a reminder. Then, when I get to a computer I have totally forgotten what I intended to write about. I don't know why this is. If there was a way of getting my creativity sorted I would be better at getting things out on a regular basis. I can only blame wedding planning and anxiety as the things stopping me from doing what I planned. I therefore apologise for that. If there are things you would like me to write or vlog about please let me know.

Creativity

Image
I always used to believe that I wasn't very creative. The reason for this is that I always thought someone creative was like an artist, author, musician or playwright. I never realised that creativity could be almost anything and be found anywhere. Creativity is actually anything you are inspired to do. This can be found anywhere and at any time and it is really up to you to make or do what you want to do. It made me realise that I am far more creative than I realised. As many people know I am in to cosplay. I am not great at sewing or anything like that so I either put together cosplays from items of clothing I own or can buy or from costumes made by others. This is not cheating in my eyes as I am still creating a character and I am still putting a character together. My preference is for human characters that often wear clothes that anyone would wear. There is my Misa or L for example. I have ordered a costume for Grell and the good thing was that I could use part of it for m...

How to be polite

Image
I was wondering about this. As a nation the Brits are often held up as being paragons of politeness, but is this true and is this something that always happens? What about when we have to be rude to be kind? There have been a couple of things lately that got me thinking about this. For a start, there are people in the office on diets and they struggle to turn down offers of food when someone comes in with cakes on birthdays or after a holiday. There is a real sense of awkwardness when they do this and you can tell they are not happy about hurting someone's feelings over this but they really want to stick to their diet. They are not being rude of course but are worrying about seeming so. That is such a British thing to do. Then there was a case the other day where someone told a story of a past office relationship that turned sour. All they did was politely ask a colleague to stop talking for a little while so they could concentrate on their work. This was after months of th...

How to have a night out without alcohol

Image
I was prompted to do this after a discussion with my work colleagues. They were talking about how boring it was to go out with friends while they were pregnant and not drink, as if you can't have fun without alcohol. This is fine if you are used to drinking but if you are like me then you don't need to drink to have a good time. For many years I was the designated driver for two reasons. One was that I was living with my parents miles from anywhere with no way of travelling by public transport. The last bus home was 18.30 and taxis were too expensive going that far from a town to home. The other reason was that I was the only one of my friends for a long time who could drive. As a result I would become the taxi service and they would buy me drinks or food in payment. The other thing with me is that I have never been a big drinker. I was really drunk until I was sick when I was 18 and I hated being drunk and I hated the hangover the next day and said never again. I am no the...
