Iraq - It was about oil after all

In 2003 then PM, Tony Blair, went on Newsnight in the UK to say that the invasion of Iraq was not about oil and that thought was absurd.

Great Injustice

Yesterday a good friend left the employment of local government.  Yes the choice in some ways was theirs to make, but the reality meant they really had no choice.  This person would have suffered a pay cut running into the thousands.  This person was not an executive or manager, but a hard working front end, normal, average worker.  I can only say that doing the same work in the private sector, they would have been earning a darn sight more than they were. The decision was forced on them by the budget cuts.  To loose that amount of money in their pay would have made it impossible to live.  So it worked out that in the short term it was more cost effective for them to go on job seekers and look for employment else where.  Being young and with experience I would hope that they will go on to great things and I wish them luck in the future. Why I Love the Macabre

A love letter to horror Horror is just one genre I adore alongside fantasy and sci-fi, but horror has consistently been there in my life. Some of my earliest memories involve horror, or things with a horror theme. When I was born in the mid-1980's, and for a few years after, there were regular repeats of things like Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' video on TV. I also remember being shown the camp, kitsch and yet horror inspired Rocky Horror Picture Show when I was five years old. Back then I couldn't understand the story, but what I loved was the songs and the horror visuals. Even as a child I could appreciate the power of Tim Curry (Frank 'N' Furter) dressed in a dark cape with black eye shadow and dark red lipstick (like some incredible vampire figure). Anxiety and food

Mental health can affect many aspects of your life. Eating can be one of those things. Before I go on I want to point out the difference between anxiety affecting your appetite and the anorexia nervosa and bulimia disorders. Anorexia is a medical condition where people keep their body weight as low as possible. Bulimia is a medical condition where people try to control their weight but binge eat and then purge through vomiting or laxatives. I found this amazing blog recently in which the blogger opens up about her relationship with food and anxiety. It is on Hello Giggles .
