I have decided that I shall do a more light hearted blog for a Friday.  It may turn darker, let's see how it goes.

BB users are defecting to Apple.  The timing of the new iPhone 4s and the new iOS 5 couldn't have come at a better time for Apple.  It just so happens to have coincided with the failures of RIM's systems for the BlackBerry.  Are Apple the luckiest company?  Or is Steve Jobs looking down on them from the iCloud in the sky...?

Live WWII weapons put outgoing flights and train services at Gatwick on a 15 minute delay.  The fact that they had been there for years is funny in itself.  I think the passengers were probably more annoyed there was a delay than the safety issue.  I had a 15 minute delay at Palma the other week...that was because of a dispute in the control tower at Bournemouth...

Oliver Letwin has been seen dumping paperwork in a public bin.  I bet he thought it would be alright to do this as who would go through a public bin right?  Well the press...they are used to going through everyone else's s**t so they wouldn't think twice.  Letwin is one of the hooray henry types of the Tories anyway.  He probably doesn't understand...

Twitter is to be allowed in the commons.  Pretty soon PMQT will be held over social media and they won't bother talking at all.  Fingers crossed...

Why we need International Women's Day

There are so many reasons why we need International Women's Day. Here are just a few reasons why this day is so important. Pay gap: Between 1997 and 2015 the pay gap remained the same . As wages appeared to rise the gap stayed the same between men and women. Last year it was reported that the gap was so wide that from 9 November until the end of 2015 women were effectively working for free ! Exact details are hard to put here because there are so many different sources, but the facts in the articles linked above speak for themselves. Rape statistics: Around 85,000 women and 12,000 men are raped in England and Wales every year! That is shocking statistics. The sad fact is that many victims of rape will know their attacker and they are often not strangers. Victim blaming means that many people worry about the reaction of others should they come forward and many more rapes are not reported. Yes it would appear that more women than men are raped and that is very likely the case

I am going to use the naming convention that the Japanese do where the family name goes first and the given name goes second. I thought I would go into more detail about some of my favourite actors and actresses from Japan and some of my favourite films/TV shows that they have been in.
