Sherlock - CONTAINS SPOILERS

So the fourth season of Sherlock is over and it was brilliant. Well that is my opinion and I am entitled to it. Some people liked it, some people hated it. Whatever. I liked it.

Turns out though that the geniuses at Digital Spy watched it, loved it, but had a load of questions about the last episode (or film as the actors and writers call them). These questions make me question if they had even seen the bloody thing!

The original article is here: Digital Spy - Sherlock

With my limited powers of deduction I will attempt to answer these questions as I see them:

1. How did Eurus get herself, Sherlock, and John from Sherrinford to Musgrave Hall, lock Mycroft in a cell and chain John up in a well? Did she have cronies? If so, what happened to them?

It is made clear at the beginning that she recruited all the members of staff at Sherrinford so we know that she had cronies to help her.

2. How did Eurus do the little girl on the plane's voice so convincingly? Did she get acting classes while locked away?

The little girl is her inner child. People with multiple personalities have been known to totally change their voices. Also, earlier in the episode she used a throat mike (more of which later) and something like that could change her voice. Either are plausible.

3. Would Sherlock really have fallen for the fake glass trick, even if his mind was rather distracted at at the time? How did he not notice his hands weren't touching glass?

He goes to touch the 'glass' but she has already put her hands up so he touches her skin straight away. Also she has a voice mike to make it sound like she is behind glass. I will explain something else in a moment.

4. Alright, so we didn't believe for a second that Eurus had really shot John dead – but all the same, her shooting him with a tranquilliser makes zero sense. You could argue that her scary sign-off ("He's making a funny face – I think I'll put a hole in it.") was just intended to scare him... but given that one of her objectives was to kill Watson anyway, why not shoot him when she had the chance?

Because she was looking to illicit an emotional response from Sherlock and wanted him to do it. Ultimately she wanted John to suffer the same fate as Sherlock's best friend from childhood. She is a child like character.

5. When did Moriarty find time to record all those video messages? It couldn't have been during those unsupervised five minutes. Did he leave, record them and send them to Eurus, who then incorporated them into Sherrinford's computer system? And wouldn't he have wanted a bigger involvement than recording a few voiceovers? He was the megalomaniac Napoleon of crime!

Well considering he met her all those years ago he actually had loads of time to record them. The first episode of season two takes place over about a year. It is implied that everything happens over about 7 years and there are loads of cases we don't see the pair of Sherlock and John solve. That gives him plenty of time to record.

6. How did Sherlock get into the holding cell when Art Malik's prison governor turned up to interrogate Watson and the "trawlerman" who turned out to be Mycroft? Just luck?

We see him manipulate everyone along the way...that's how he did it. He's done that sort of thing before.

7. Was Sherlock also just lucky when he found Eurus in her old bedroom? If he had come in at any other time she probably would have shot him instantly. Or was she always in that trance-like state whenever she was pretending to be the little girl?

Um...yes she was in that trance-like state and he had figured it out from all the clues. We see him deduce that she is in her old room.

8. How did Sherlock know the prison governor would give him a swipe card in the holding cell and send him off when he turned up anyway? That's a lot of trust placed in a generic bloke that you clearly don't know very well, whether you've been brainwashed by Eurus or not. And what were the odds of Malik giving him the card before he rumbled Mycroft's disguise?

Nope, he does that sort of thing to people all the time. It is not the first time we have seen him do something similar. Think 'Hound of Baskerville' episode.

9. How is anyone able to be as manipulative as Eurus without magical powers? She should be going up against the Avengers, not her brothers.

Literally the whole episode explains this if you watch it.

10. Sherlock's mind is so powerful he can literally predict the future while off his head on smack (see episode two). Yet, he can't remember a childhood trauma?

People can lock down traumatic events away and totally forget everything. This is well documented in psychology circles.

11. How did Mary know to send John and Sherlock a second "PS" DVD and exactly when to do it? Why not just include her "Baker Street Boys" speech on his first DVD? For that matter, who burns video to DVD anymore? Surely she knows that it's best to store data on a USB, like her secret past? Plus, nowadays it's surprisingly hard to make a DVD video that instantly plays on a DVD player without it just being a data disc with a file on it. This is like all that "cameraphone" business in Series Two.

She may have had someone like a solicitor send it to them at certain times. She is really clever and Sherlock sees she has deductive powers. Perhaps she just knew a lot of what was going to happen? Also, suspend some disbelief. I have made DVDs which play automatically...maybe I am Mary Watson in disguise?

12. What happened to the note from John to Sherlock that Molly gave him? Why bother showing that if we don't get to see what it said?

Why is that important? It basically said that he didn't want to see him anymore but thanks for the memories right? I thought that was covered at some point.

13. Why did Eurus bother flirting with John on the bus? Pretending to be his therapist made sense as she was gaining information about Sherlock, and pretending to be Culverton Smith's daughter was purely to mess with him. But why pretend to be "Elizabeth"? It served no purpose and John didn't even tell anyone that he had a text fling with Eurus at any point. Was it just to get his phone number?

To suss him out on another level. What could she make him do basically.

14. Did Eurus carve all those wrong numbers on the gravestones then, to make her song fit the numbering?

Or did she write the song to fit the numbers? Apparently it was just an architectural joke.

15. It seems like Eurus uses the Jacob off Lost teleportation technique when getting on and off Sherringford island so easily.

No...it was explained that everyone she spoke to she 'recruited'. Literally every guard there was under her 'spell'.

16. How did Sherlock, John and Mycroft get to Sherrinford so quickly and without any injuries? Even Mycroft's government buddy was concerned about him when speaking to the prison governor.

We simply don't know. That I will admit. Somehow they got away with it.

17. Why did they introduce the new cop lady DI Hopkins in episode 1? She came out of nowhere and then went nowhere, was she just a red herring to get off the Moriarty scent?

There was a guy in season one, episode two who was told he would 'go far' by Sherlock and he was never seen or heard of again.

18. Was Eurus controlling the drone all the way from Sherrinford? And is that where it came from? That's quite a powerful signal. And lucky it didn't fall off between points A and B.

1. Who is to say she was in Sherrinford at the time?
2. She could have used someone to control it for her.
3. It could even have been a computer control drone so remote from anywhere.
