Lib Dem Conference

Unfortunately for Clegg and co, the international events have not detracted attention from the Party Conference. Protesters could be seen outside chanting 'Shame on you!' to delegates waiting to get inside.  People already affected by the cuts confronted volunteers organising the events to put their point across about losing jobs and benefits.  But what of Clegg himself?

Clegg took to the stage to tell his Party that being in power would make them unpopular.  Now, correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the point to lead the country in a good way by making decisions the country actually needs?  By doing that you become very popular and win another term in government right?  Clegg appears to be trying to destroy his Party completely and he is going to succeed at this rate.

I have just heard that there is a £2 million fence that has been put up around the conference to protect Clegg and co today from protesters.  So this is going to be paid for by who exactly?

I had to pause to listen to Chris Huhne as he is the MP in the constituency next to mine.  He was saying that they and the Tories had a big mess to clean up, but correct me if I am wrong again, but surely the figures from the last months of the Labour Government showed that the economy had recovered under them and they were doing the right thing.

The Lib Dems have lost it and will be absorbed by the Tories.  How interesting.

Why we need International Women's Day

There are so many reasons why we need International Women's Day. Here are just a few reasons why this day is so important. Pay gap: Between 1997 and 2015 the pay gap remained the same . As wages appeared to rise the gap stayed the same between men and women. Last year it was reported that the gap was so wide that from 9 November until the end of 2015 women were effectively working for free ! Exact details are hard to put here because there are so many different sources, but the facts in the articles linked above speak for themselves. Rape statistics: Around 85,000 women and 12,000 men are raped in England and Wales every year! That is shocking statistics. The sad fact is that many victims of rape will know their attacker and they are often not strangers. Victim blaming means that many people worry about the reaction of others should they come forward and many more rapes are not reported. Yes it would appear that more women than men are raped and that is very likely the case

I am going to use the naming convention that the Japanese do where the family name goes first and the given name goes second. I thought I would go into more detail about some of my favourite actors and actresses from Japan and some of my favourite films/TV shows that they have been in.
