Things I learned this week - beginning 25 May

Continuing the theme of things I have learned this week here are some things I have learned this week:

1. Dropping the wheels of a holdall on your toe will result in blood spurting out and you potentially losing a nail. Also you will walk funny all week because of the INTENSE PAIN!

2. People are often surprised by the obvious. This week there were several arrests of top FIFA officials ahead of the election for president (likely to be Sepp Blatter...again) for fraudulent activity. The arrests were made by the FBI in the USA. The world went a bit crazy over the 'crisis' and there was wall-to-wall coverage. I was not surprised at the allegations. It was amazing that it took so long for any of them to be arrested, but I thought it was well known that there were underhand and fraudulent goings on in FIFA. At the time of writing, Sepp Blatter himself has not been accused. I personally think that the most surprising thing was that a country like the USA, who has no apparent big interest in football (or soccer as they persist in calling it), would be the ones to make the arrests.

3. Buying a house takes longer than planned. I honestly thought we would be in by now, but we still haven't exchanged (at time of writing).

4. People will go over the top at a magician on Britain's Got Talent. Some people actually seemed put out that he didn't really bring a helicopter into the studio using just the power of his mind. There were loads of people complaining on Twitter that a magician didn't actually use 'real' magic in his tricks. It was as though these people actually believed in magic and not in illusion or slight of hand, which is actually what is happening here. Quick! Someone call the Amazing Randy to investigate this fraudster! Well that is what I expected Twitter to cry but they didn't. Instead, the internet was filled with videos of people either showing you how his 'tricks' were done or the footage from the show slowed down to show what the guy did on the night. What people should have done was take it as the light hearted bit of entertainment that it was. None of this stopped the guy going through to the live grand final. Good for him. It was obvious but a good piece of entertainment.

5. It is 2015 and people are still sharing posts on Facebook because they think they will be cursed if they don't, by sharing they will 'cure cancer' or they will somehow pay for someone's treatment simply by participating in sharing a post. The reality is that this is clickbait and people are sucking others in so they can get likes and shares. Pathetic.
